The Administrators Technology Academy (ATA) is quickly approaching, and I just previewed the range of topics that will be available. This appears to be a great opportunity for administrators to acquire staff development in the area of instructional technology. Sometimes, the pure tech stuff seems to get lost in the day to day operation of school. It is now impossible to separate TECHNOLOGY from the teaching and learning process. The goal is to make instructional technology transparent. It is no longer something to be mastered and taught in a vacuum but is just as natural as textbooks, paper, pencils, and other tools of the trade.
So where do administrators go to keep abreast of change trends and innovations? I am sure this varies from person to person, and there may be a void in this area of professional development for administrators. ATA will not provide you will answers to all your questions and provide all of the training that you need to perform your daily tasks, but it will give you some new ideas and resources. It may plant a seed or two that will grow-- that's what professional development is all about - personal growth. ATA is a good idea.
Did I mention that it is free, that breakfast and lunch is provided, that networking with other like minded individuals will be a natural outcome...It is a real good idea. Thanks TETA! Thanks Freed Hardeman University!! Thanks, Dr. Monte Tatum!!!
